FAQs

Why should I choose mediation?

Mediation has a high success rate, it is effective in sustaining and repairing workplace relationships and it has a lower cost than other options such as litigation.

Why should I choose Dispute Mediation Ireland?

We are fully accredited by the Mediation Institute of Ireland and we guarantee that you will be satisfied by the quality of our work. For that reason we offer a 100% fee refund if for any reason you’re not satisfied.

I’ve been bullied at work, is mediation suitable for me?

Mediation is used successfully to address workplace issues such as bullying, so yes it probably would be suitable. However, we take every case on its merits, because no two cases are the same. So, the mediator will assess during each stage whether or not the dispute is suitable for mediation.

Who pays the fees?

In workplace mediations, the fees are usually paid by the employer.

How long will a mediation take?

Mediation is usually one of the quickest ways to successfully resolve a dispute. Where the disputants are available and willing all four stages of mediation can often be completed in a day. In some cases it can take longer but this will always be made clear by the mediator during the process.

So, the mediator makes the decisions about the agreement?

No! The mediator is a skilled facilitator and he facilitates the disputants to find their solution to the dispute. That is because in a dispute the solution must belong to those who are in the dispute.

If the mediation does not work what options do I have?

You retain your rights to seek redress through the courts or other mechanisms unless you expressly agree to waive those rights.
